Bilstein B6 Front Strut for Ford Transit 2015–2023 vs OEM: A Fleet Cost Controller’s Comparison

A few months ago, I sat in our maintenance office with two quotes for the same job: replacing the front struts on a 2015 Ford Transit. One quote was for OEM Ford front struts. The OEM strut is softer. Coming from that, the B6 feels firm. Honestly, I told my mechanic I thought it was too stiff before I even drove it.   • The Transit carries a consistent load—tools, cargo, or multiple passengers.
  • You want less body roll and better steering stability on highways.
  • You’re willing to spend more now to avoid a second replacement later.

Bottom line: the B6’s tag price is higher, but I wouldn’t call it more expensive. On our fleet, the B6 front struts reduced suspension downtime and made drivers less tired. That’s not a marketing phrase; that’s what my cost tracking says.

And for the people who keep asking “does oil filter brand matter?”—yes, it does, but that’s another spreadsheet. Stick with a known brand that has the right bypass valve. The $2 filter isn’t worth the $4,000 engine repair you might be buying later.
