Step 7: Ask for proof

Before you write the PO, ask the supplier for a dimensional report, material certificate, or at least a batch photo with a calibrated scale. In Q1 2024, the three suppliers that voluntarily sent data all cleared incoming inspection without extra checks. The ones that hesitated required additional checks. That won't surprise anyone in quality.

The part can be perfect, but the documentation is part of the part.

  • Treating 'new' as 'correct.' A fresh, sealed box can still be the wrong revision.
